While Copernicus Meetings & Publications and the European Geosciences Union welcome any original scientific work for posting on EGUsphere, the following obligations are expected from authors:

  • Preprints posted on EGUsphere with the request for full public peer review and possible later journal publication have not been published before, except in the form of abstracts, preprints, published lectures, theses, discussion papers, or similar formats that have not undergone full peer review, and they are not under consideration for peer-reviewed publication elsewhere. Preprints based on conference proceedings should include a significant novelty compared to the conference paper and the proceedings publication should not make out more than 60% of the manuscript content.
  • If posted as preprint, the authors are aware that their submission to EGUsphere will be automatically checked for plagiarism. In their own interest, authors should avoid dubious cases (e.g. exact copies of site or method descriptions) by using quotation marks and citing the original work. Conference abstracts and corresponding presentation materials will not be automatically checked for plagiarism but authors are obliged to adhere to the same standards of correct citation of sources.
  • The posting of abstracts, presentation materials, or preprints has been approved by all author(s) and, tacitly or explicitly, by the responsible authorities and/or the institutes where the work was carried out.
  • The authors are aware that their works posted on EGUsphere may be reused under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License by anyone.
  • The authors have secured the right to reproduce any material in their work that has already been published elsewhere.
  • The authors have agreed to the licence and copyright agreement.
  • The authors are aware that any preprint posted on EGUsphere remains permanently archived, accessible, and citable, even if a possibly aimed subsequent publication in an EGU journal will not take place.
  • The EGU and Copernicus Meetings & Publications reserves the right to remove or to censor comments to preprints or abstract presentation materials if they contain personal insults or if they are not of substantial nature or of direct relevance to the issues raised in the preprint or presentation materials.
  • The use of general descriptive names, trade names, trademarks, etc. in the works posted on EGUsphere, even if not specifically identified, does not imply that these names are not protected by the relevant laws and regulations.
  • The editors of preprints posted on EGUsphere or conveners reviewing submitted conference abstracts try to guide the review process as carefully as possible but cannot take legal responsibility for the outcome and aftermath of acceptance or rejection.
  • While the advice and information on EGUsphere is believed to be true and accurate on the date each work is posted, neither the authors, the editors, the EGU, nor Copernicus Meetings & Publications can accept any legal responsibility for any errors or omissions that may have occurred. The EGU and Copernicus Meetings & Publications make no guarantee, expressed or implied, with respect to the material contained herein. Any opinions expressed on EGUsphere are the views of the authors or commentators and are not the views of the EGU or Copernicus Meetings & Publications.
  • Any participation on EGUsphere implies that individuals adhere to EGU's Code of Conduct.
